Choosing dab rigs in Clovis, NM
Smaller is usually better for dabs. A mini rig has less glass and less water for the vapor to travel through, so you taste more of the concentrate. Recyclers cycle water between chambers for a smoother pull and are fun to watch, but they are bigger and take more care.
Check the joint: 10 mm, 14 mm or 18/19 mm, male or female. Your banger has to match it, so it is easiest to buy the rig and banger together.
Bangers, carb caps and tools
A quartz banger is the bucket you heat. Thicker quartz holds heat longer, thinner quartz heats faster. A carb cap sits on top to trap heat and control airflow, which lets you dab at a lower temperature and get more flavor. Add a dab tool for loading and cotton swabs for wiping the banger while it is still warm.
Electronic rigs (e-rigs) skip the torch and heat to a set temperature at the push of a button. They cost more up front but give you the most consistent dabs.
Torch safety
A butane torch gets quartz hot enough to burn you badly. Heat the banger, shut the flame off, set the torch down and let the quartz cool before you dab. Never touch the banger or rest it on anything that can melt. Refill butane outside, away from flames, and keep the torch where kids cannot reach it.
