510 batteries at our vape shop in Clovis, NM
510 is the standard thread on most THC cartridges, so a 510 battery fits nearly every cart at the dispensary counter. Pen-style batteries are slim and simple. Box-style batteries are a little bigger, often hide the cart inside and usually last longer between charges.
Some are buttonless and fire when you inhale. Others have a button you click to turn on, change the voltage or preheat. If you have been buying disposables and want to switch to THC vape carts, a 510 battery is the piece you need.
Voltage, simply explained
Variable-voltage batteries let you pick the heat. Lower settings keep more flavor and are easier on the oil. Higher settings make bigger clouds but can scorch the cart. Many people start around 2.5 to 3 volts and only turn it up if the draw feels weak. Use preheat on thick oil that has been sitting in the cold.
Dry herb vaporizers vs. oil devices
A dry herb vaporizer heats ground flower without burning it, so you get vapor instead of smoke. Conduction models heat the chamber walls and warm up fast. Convection models push hot air through the flower and tend to heat more evenly. Either way, grind it fine and pack it evenly.
Oil devices, like 510 batteries and pod systems, are for cartridges and will not work with flower. Check the listing or ask at the counter before you buy. Going the dry herb route? Pick up a grinder while you are here.
